Notifications while blocked

I would really like to be able to see and maybe respond to notifications without opening an app, such as insta dm’s. I sometimes use it for work communication and don’t want to have to unlock insta just to check if there’s any notifications, if i could respond to a dm just from my lock screen I wouldn’t even have to open the app to potentially get sucked into it. Thank you
